Permanent makeup is known as permanent cosmetics, cosmetic tattooing, dermapigmentation and micropigmentation. Permanent makeup is essentially a tattoo that makes you appear as if you’re always wearing makeup. The procedure is somewhat like that of getting a tattoo as it involves using a needle to place coloured pigment beneath into the upper dermal layer of the skin after applying an anesthetic to the area.
Permanent make-up can be used for;
- people allergic or sensitive to conventional make-up ingredients.
- people who wear glasses or contact lenses.
- athletes who swim or perspire excessively.
- people with excessively oily skin.
- people with vision problems who cannot apply make-up.
- escaping the daily make-up application routine.
- disguising scars.
- camouflaging imperfections such as discolouration, uneven pigmentation & scars.
- camouflaging burns or cosmetic surgery.
- people with alopecia or eyebrow/lash loss due to chemotherapy.
- restoring or enhancing areolae, particularly after breast surgery.
- correcting sparse, partial or very light eyebrows.
- correcting sparse eyelashes.
- the appearance of fuller lips, brows or lashes.
During the consultation, the technician will design the shape of the brows by drawing them in using an eyebrow pencil until both the client and the technician are happy with the shape. It will take about three weeks for the skin to fully heal so that the true colour will show. During the healing process the colour will seen muted or dull. The pigment will fade over time and that varies from person to person, age, skin type, skin tone, depth of colour used and lifestyle such as exposure to sun. For maintenance, treatment will generally require repeating every 2 years.
The procedure can cause minimal discomfort, although most people do not consider it painful. A topical anesthetic cream is used for numbing. The procedure is performed under strict sanitation and sterilization rules. A certified permanent makeup technician administers each procedure using disposable, sterilized tools and needles. All pigments contain FDA approved ingredients for cosmetic use.
Eyebrows
Permanent makeup is used to create or enhance eyebrows, particularly in people who have lost them as a consequence of aging, eyebrows that have been over-tweezed, over-waxed, have scars within them, have drooped with age, have become sparse or are very light in colour or hair loss due to alopecia or chemotherapy. Eyebrows that lack symmetry and definition can be beautifully enhanced and improved. The procedure for eyebrows - “feathering” uses micro-blade technique which simulates individual hairs within the brows. This involves the micro-blading technique, which results in natural looking hair strokes for a balance of shape and design. The eyebrows frame your face and enhance the expression on your face and the procedure leaves you with an instant face lift and a more youthful look.
Eyeliner
Another popular procedure is permanent eyeliner applied to the upper and/or lower lash line to make the lashes look fuller and add definition to the eyes. It is ideal for balancing and correcting wide or close set, deep-set, small or large, or droopy eyes.
Lips can be defined with permanent lip liners to create desired lip shape or correct
faded or uneven lip contours. Full lip enhancement is popular with a selection of many colours ranging from natural to vibrant. Lip colour is perfect for asymmetrical shaped lips, thick lips, thin lips, or lips with uneven vermillion borders. Enhancing the lips creates visual fullness and definition, and will also eliminate the problem of lipstick “bleeding” into the fine lines around the mouth.
